Hi there! I’m Melanie Milo, founder of Modern Mission. I bring 10+ years in nonprofit development and 15 years in event planning and coordination, which means I’ve spent my career raising money, telling better stories, and calmly managing the kind of behind-the-scenes chaos most people pretend doesn’t exist.
I got my start in the nonprofit world in 2014, helping launch and grow an organized sports nonprofit in my hometown of Boca Raton, Florida. After relocating to New Jersey in 2017, I began working with mission-driven organizations that needed more than good intentions, they needed funding, systems, and a strategy that didn’t rely on last-minute miracles.
At Modern Mission, I help organizations turn passion into momentum. That might look like clarifying your message, diversifying revenue, planning fundraisers people actually want to attend, or writing grants that align with funder priorities, tell a compelling story, and get funded.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me cooking, traveling, planning events for fun (yes, still), or volunteering. I’m known for my honest approach, love of a clean spreadsheet, appreciation for a strong deadline, and ability to make fundraising feel less overwhelming, and occasionally even enjoyable.
